Stationary designers we love

The options for wedding stationary are endless...and right now we're obsessed with soft tones, elegant shapes, prints and antique letterhead with a touch of wanderlust (in particular that beautiful white leather envelop from Bliss & Bone).

It's all about telling a story when you send the invitations out in the mail - a perfect way to define your own style and personality and share it with your favorite people.

The following designers have caught our eye and now we can't stop looking at their creations, see for yourself:

California desert venues we love

The desert is always appealing. The warm tones, mystical air, and mysterious landscapes as a backdrop, the California desert has everything to offer for free spirited minds and weddings. Joshua Tree, in particular, has captured our interest with its majestic scenery. The fact that it's only a half day road trip or a quick flight away from the Bay Area make us even more ready to jet down there. Take a peek at our round up of venues that are currently inspiring us.

Le Haute Desert Aerie, Yucca Valley

Le Haute Desert Aerie offers a breath taking setting for weddings. Every nook features a visual adventure in Morroccon, Indian & Tibetan aesthetics. With just 30 minutes from Palm Springs airport, it's so easy to get to, yet feel tucked away from the rest of the world. (Photos via 100 Layer Cake)

The Ruin, Pioneertown

The Ruin in Pioneertown, California - where a forgotten house transforms into a private, rustic outdoor venue. It's an enchanting space with remainders of an old miners house with stone walls and floors which brings a more intimate vibe to an outdoor event. (Photos via Green Wedding Shoes)

29 Palms Inn, Twentynine Palms

29 Palms Inn is situated on the 9,000 year old Oasis of Mara and surrounded by the vast Mojave Desert looking up to Joshua Tree National Park. Their unique rustic charm and amenities are perfect for catering and hosting small and large groups (up to 150). (Photos via Green Wedding Shoes)

We hope you'll be dreaming of a desert wedding as much as we hope to create and design one!

Rainy Winter Wedding in Lake Tahoe

About a month ago Brittany, Katie, and I snuck off to Lake Tahoe to exercise a vision we all had. White Magazine was just as excited about it as we were. Thank you West Shore Cafe for allowing us to dive in and make some magic! Also, a huge shout out to Wiley Valentine for your contribution with the invitation and Platypus Perspective for you amazing hand knit blankets!

Vanessa + Brad + Iko Space

Although I did not get to plan Vanessa and Brad’s wedding, I am elated she was one of the first brides to use the Iko Space at her wedding this summer! Vanessa had great style and charisma and we bonded instantly. (We even had our first face to face business meet inside my car in a red zone in the financial district bc of lack of parking). She used the Iko as an escort holder. She gave all of the guests potted succulents with their seat assignments. Guests collected them from inside the Iko where they were sitting on floating macrame shelves. Now, I am so proud to say that she is taking a leap into the wedding industry! Vanessa and new hubs are creating video! Keep an eye on them.

All About White

Throwing tradition out the window at weddings seems to be on the rise. I'm okay with that! I am all about creating a wedding that is as unique as the couple. However, there is something about white at weddings that I still love. I rarely get to do "white weddings". Which is totally okay. However, showcasing how to use white at a wedding is still fun. Maybe your dress doesn't have to be white, or you dislike the look of white linens, or maybe you do like white but don't know how or where to use it. I am happy to share what I think about white tied into a wedding look. I think that white, in it's traditional sense, is pure. It is also really great for brightening up a space and making it pop. When used in the right setting (like this one), white is the stand out guy, the really bright and appealing part of the whole concept. I like working with white elements and I like to add contrast like a farm table or dark wood. However, I also don't like too much contrast or a look that appears harsh. Adding neutrals in with the white gave it a little more depth and softened the contrast of the dark table top. I had a ton of fun creating this tabletop.

The Cheese School

Recently I had the pleasure of styling The Cheese School. The further I dug into the concept, I really wanted to utilize different vibes within the space. I created a moodier and more ambient space for the back room. See below.

Laura + Daniel | Sutro Baths Engagement Session

I've been working with this couple for over a year and their wedding is finally nearing. They recently took their engagement photos in San Francisco. That red dress is everything. Walking them through their wedding will be a joy!

Canopia - Dinning in Tulum

As a wedding planner I spend much of my time searching and scouting all of the best restaurants as well as venues when I plan a wedding. One of my dearest friends is now running an amazing new restaurant in the heart of Tulum, Mexico, which I am happy to share here! It is excellent for a dinner rehearsal, brunch the morning after, or anytime!

From Sam:

Canopia is a fairly new concept on the road to that leads to all the boutique hotels and restaurants by the beach. It is a place that, from its inception, was created with nature in mind. From the thick tree canopy (where the restaurant gets its name from), to the limestone wall that envelops the property, to the natural local wood accents on the tables, kitchen and bar. Amidst the tables settled on limestone pebbles soil, there are trees that intersect and come out straight from the restaurant floor, giving the impression that you are in the thickness of the jungle.

Based on the concept of our green surroundings, we developed our menus with a philosophy of balance and the use of the most natural, freshest ingredients. For daily brunch, there's a chia pudding and bircher muesli right next to organic framers eggs and local Yucatan dishes such as huevos motuleños. Our juice and smoothies menu is extensive and diverse, made with local and seasonal ingredients.

For dinner we serve mexican craf beer, organic wine and mezcal, fresh squeezed juices in lieu of sodas, organic local cornish hen, oven roasted catch of the day and several other dishes that are vegan, vegetarian and gluten free.

The cooking styles and influences are very eclectic and international, thai curries share room with chana masala and local achiote. We cook all of our dishes either grilled, broiled or with avocado oil, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil and ghee.

Canopia is a unique concept in Tulum, the menu changes with the seasons and the dishes are healthy and well balance, along with a harmonious blend of nature and minimalistic modernity.

Love knows no boundaries | Same Sex Marriage Equality has passed in every state

Today, the US Supreme Court ruled Same-Sex Marriage Legal in all 50 states.  As a long time supporter of Same-Sex weddings (and having planned many of them) this news rings loud and clear to all who feel the same! In honor, here's a few of the weddings I have planned over the years. All of my love, support, and joy to all the future same-sex couples out there for this accomplishment!

Beach Ceremony

When we first built the Iko, all I wanted to do was pop it up on the beach and style it as a ceremony piece. We had the most opportune night up near Bolinas and made an evening of shooting. All pieces are rental pieces from me as well.

Property Styling | Lone Mountain Ranch

A few months ago we packed up the car and road tripped it to Big Sky, Montana. Yes, you read that right, we drove. With team in tow, flowers, and all of our props, we headed to the snowy mountain top for a very full 48 hours of shooting. This was one of my very favorite properties to style. I love the rustic and understated elegance of the venue and of Montana. We actually had so much fun exploring and driving all over Montana, we all felt like we did not have enough time there. Check out some more photos below of what we did with Lone Mountain Ranch. Also check out Britt's mom's amazing hand knit blankets at Platypus Perspective, I can't get enough of them.

As a correspondent for The Venue Report, I am stoked that Lone Mountain Ranch now has a profile up! See it here.

IKO Space | Pop-up Spaces Anywhere

The IKO has just made it's debut. I could not be more excited about it!

The IKO is a pop up space that we built for a wedding design competition that I competed in, back in February 2015. It is a rad multifunctional space that has endless uses. We have set it up as an indoor lounge and also brought it to the beach for a boho wedding ceremony. Ideally, it is a statement piece for weddings and events. It can be outfitted for glamping, a lounge, a bar, a ceremony, a vendor tent, a pop up wardrobe, an art installation, a cake room, and many more creative uses. We can create a village of them and can also create a larger size. Please email me for more information at

The IKO is available for rental nearly anywhere in California. They (we can build more than one upon request) can be rented for virtually any events, music festivals, workshops, retreats, and more. If you have a request for somewhere outside California, we would love to chat with you about your request. We will work with you to make it happen. We are excited to see what others do with them!
